Psalm 138:7
Good morning, Hopewell High!
The October 21st devotional in your calendar reads Psalm 138:7. “Lord, even when I have trouble all around me, You will keep me alive."
There is a window in your heart through which you can see God. Once upon a time that window was clear… You could see God as vividly as you could see a gentle valley or hillside. Then, suddenly, the window cracked. A pebble broke the window. A pebble of pain. And suddenly God was not so easy to see…. You were puzzled. God wouldn’t allow something like this to happen, would He? When you can’t see Him, trust. God is closer than you’ve ever dreamed.
When I read this, I thought of all the pebbles of pain that I’ve felt. Pain of losing loved ones to death, separation of moving away from family and friends, facing a medical diagnosis, your loved ones don’t know the Lord as their personal Savior, and the list goes on.
As I read this scripture in the NKJV it reads, “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You can revive me: You will stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will save me.” Then I thought of all the times I didn’t see God’s hand in my life, Then I thought of this song, “Trust His Heart.”
The Lyrics are: (Listen HERE)
All things work for our good
Though sometimes we don’t see how they could
Struggles that break our hearts in two
Sometimes blind us to the truth
Our Father knows what’s best for us
His ways are not our own
So when your pathway grows dim
And you just don’t see Him.
Remember you’re never alone
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His Heart
He sees the master plan
He holds our future in His hand,
So don’t live as those who have no hope,
All our hope is found in Him
We see the present clearly
But He sees the first and the last
Like a tapestry He’s weaving you and me,
To someday be just like Him
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His Heart
He alone is faithful and true
He alone knows what's best for you
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When you don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His heart.
Let’s pray.
Our kind and most gracious heavenly Father who knows what is best for each one of us, Your ways are not always our own. Guide us into Your ways, direct us in each moment of our day to give You the honor You deserve. You never leave us alone. So, when we can’t see Your hand, help us to trust Your heart. All our hope is found in You, Lord. Thank You. It's in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
